25-003 Values

MotD 25-003 Values - after. front view of puzzle piece 145

If we’re wanting to change our lives for the better, then perhaps we need to assess our current set of values so that we can determine at least one value that could use a transformation for the better.

It just dawned on me, that when I think of values I just assume that they’re always positive; however, it occurs to me that if we’re not living by positive values, then we must be choosing to live by negative values.

Examples of negative vs positive values:

  1. Approval-seeking (prioritizing others’ opinions over your own)
    vs
Authenticity (staying true to yourself and your values)
  2. Perfectionism (demanding flawlessness in everything)
    vs
Growth (embracing progress and learning from imperfection)
  3. Materialism (placing too much importance on possessions)
    vs
Simplicity (valuing experiences and relationships over things)
  4. Control (micromanaging people and situations)
    vs
Trust (allowing others and life to flow naturally)
  5. Selfishness (putting your needs above everyone else’s)
    vs
Compassion (balancing self-care with care for others)
  6. Negativity (constantly focusing on what’s wrong)
    vs
    Optimism (seeking opportunities and solutions)
  7. Stagnation (resisting change or growth)
    vs
Curiosity (being open to learning and evolving)
  8. Status-seeking (chasing external validation or power)
    vs
    Contribution (focusing on meaningful impact)

Do any of these resonate with you? Do you have others that are not on this list. I know for me, I struggle with a couple of these, namely #1, #4, and a bit of #3 and #7, with a dash of the others.

Today’s MotD begs the following questions: what are our values? which ones do we want to keep? and which ones do we want to adopt?

BTW…Here’s the before…the back and front view of the puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

🏵️ Creating Mandalas — Awakening Inner Harmony

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
