MotD 25-060 HALT — after. Painted front side of Puzzle Piece No. 72. with colors of red, white, and blue

HALT

This week we focus on the concept of The Basics. Today’s MotD encourages us to remember to HALT. It’s an acronym used by AA that stands for Hungry, Angry, Lonely, or Tired. It reminds us to ask ourselves: our we taking care of our basic needs?

Do we need to eat? Do we need to check our anger? Do we need to spend time in community? Do we need to rest? This ties into yesterday’s MotD where we’re encouraged to pay attention to how we’re feeling (physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually). If we are need of some form care, then do that—take care of yourself.

For us to sacrifice ourselves serves no one if our well-being is shattered in the process. In the past, that was definitely my M.O. Thankfully three years of therapy and reading Melody Beattie’s “Co-Dependent No More” helped me greatly in reversing my martyrdom trajectory.

How about you? Do you remember to HALT? Now is as good a time as any to check-in with yourself. Do you need to eat? rest? breathe? Do take care of yourself—you’re worth it.

In case you’re curious as to how it’s looking so far here’s the update no. four image of Archangel Mandala No 4 with now 60 puzzle pieces added to the wood panel (today’s is on the fourth row down, and fourth from the left side).

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
