Ripple Effect

This week we focus on the concept of Nurturing. Today’s MotD reminds us that we may never know how much of an effect our nurturing of others has on them or how many people it will effect. Because of that, we are encouraged to be mindful of our actions as often as we can.

For instance if we’re at the grocery store and someone up ahead at the checkout is being rude to the cashier, chances are that cashier may take it to heart and pass on the rudeness to others in line. Of course the reverse is true as well. If the cashier is having a rough day and someone up ahead compliments them or cheers them up in some way, chances are that cashier will pass along this uplifted energy to the rest of us on line.

And what about the ripple effect within ourselves? When we nurture ourselves, we’re more likely to offer the same to others. Growing up, I was encouraged to make sure that everyone’s needs were taken care of—usually to the detriment of my own well-being and often bringing up feelings of resentment, unworthiness, and other such emotions.

For example if one cookie remained in the cookie jar, I had to make sure someone else got it and not me, even though I wanted it for myself. If that situation were to happen now, I would kindly ask the other person if we could split the last cookie and share it. This way we both get to enjoy it. Or it could be that they don’t even want it and suggest that I take it for myself.

How about you? Do you ever notice the ripple effect of your actions or the actions of others?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
