Bless Those We Resent

This week we focus on “Blessings”. Today’s MotD encourages us to bless those we resent. Why? Well let’s look at from a different perspective. How has holding onto our resentments benefitted us…in any way? To make matters worse, there’s an excellent chance that the people we resent are totally clueless to our resentments. Making it doubly damaging to us.

Now, this doesn’t mean that we aren’t allowed to have the initial emotion of resentment. It just means that once we consciously acknowledge it, then it’s time to let it go and turn it around. One way we can do that is to send blessings to the target of our resentment.

I embarrassed to admit it that I’ve been holding onto one particular resentment since childhood. Today’s, MotD is reminding me that it’s time to let it go…seriously…let it go! Intellectually, I know it’s ridiculous to hold onto it and waiting for this person to even consider acknowledging what I took to be hurtfulness towards me is probably even more ridiculous.

While this person is not someone I hang out with nowadays, I can still offer up blessings to them because I certainly don’t wish them ill. Besides holding onto any resentments is detrimental to my peace…which can negatively affect my interactions with others.

If I truly want peace, then it’s time to let it go. Interesting side note. Just this week I shipped one of my older mandala paintings entitled “Letting Go” to a customer. Yesterday she received it and sent a text: “Thank you for letting go of “Letting Go”. It’s giving me much comfort”. I’m grateful it found a loving home.

“Letting Go”

We can know peace when we let go of resentments.

How about you? Got any resentments you’re ready to release? Or at least acknowledge? How would you turn them around?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
