Practice Patience

This week we focus on the value of “Patience”. Today’s MotD encourages us to practice patience…especially when we’re feeling stressed, sad, angry, or overwhelmed. What does that mean to practice patience? It means to closely monitor our state of mind as well as our body. When we catch that we’re triggered, STOP! Even for just a few seconds, that’s enough to bring us back to ourselves giving us the opportunity to consciously practice patience.

Watch for signs of being triggered: tension in the body (stomach, shoulders, jaw) and tension in our thoughts (heightened brain activity, saying things to ourselves like “hurry up” or “I got to get this done” or “I wish these people with move!” and so on).

We’re reminded that we can practice patience in advance of an upcoming stressful situation by setting an intention beforehand that at the end of this situation, we intend to be glad how it turned out, leaving out the specifics…let the Universe handle that.

For instance a couple of years ago I had to go to our local Social Security office. People warned me of how awful it can be and that I’d better go early otherwise I’ll end up being there all day. So I set this intention: I intend to leave the SS office by 10 am with a smile on my face (no details, no hows about what needed to be done, just how I wanted to feel and in this case a time limit). I wound up walking out of there BEFORE 10 am, the issue resolved, and a smile on my face.

BTW when setting intentions, I like starting with “I intend to…”. This lets the Universe (Powers that Be) know my plan and my expectation. But obviously, use whatever wording works best for you.

And how about you? Are you ready to practice patience? What does practicing patience look like to you? What works for you when you’re deep in a stressful situation?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
