Apply Serenity
Our focus this week: “Serenity”.
Today’s MotD: Apply Serenity. Whenever we feel ourselves being pulled into someone else’s drama or that we’re trying to pull someone else into ours—STOP, take breath, be present in the body, notice any and all sensations, then ask: is this drama helping or hindering the situation ? That’s what it means to apply serenity. We’re encouraged to apply it often, or at least some variation that helps bring us back to serenity.
There will be people who will try to draw us into their dramas. When we can identify that, we can better stay in our serenity and be present with them in this space of serenity…knowing full well we have the option to walk away, if need be.
And if we’re the ones wanting others to commiserate in OUR drama, we’re encouraged to question our motive. Are we wanting others to truly help us or would we rather have them enable our victimhood or martyrdom ? How does our drama help/hinder the situation ?
I’m reminded of a line from “A Course in Miracles”: “you cannot be angry at a fact”. You can CHOOSE to be angry. You can CHOOSE to be happy. You can CHOOSE to be neutral. But a fact is just that: a fact, it just is. Now, how do we choose to respond to this fact ? We often miss that step because we tend to knee-jerk react to a fact without taking responsibility for our choice in our reaction/response.
I know…that went a little of topic and yet it felt like it needed to be part of the post…because it’s always a good reminder. 😁
How about you ? How far into your drama or other people’s drama do you recognize that you’re in a drama ? Are you open to paying attention as to when you’re in one ? And are you open to applying serenity (however that works for you) in such a situation ?
BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day
Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.
Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.
Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
