Passion is the Secret

Our focus this week — June 25-July 1: “Passion”

Today’s MotD: Passion is the Secret. Mandalas have been my passion since early fall 1998, when I first learned of them and saw (and bought) a three-volume set of mandala coloring books. My software engineering mind nearly blew a gasket it was so excited. My artist heart cracked open because I finally knew what kind of art I wanted to created.

Before that I considered myself an artist without a subject. I took art classes and dabbled in different artsy-craftsy projects. I could do all of these things but it wasn’t until I discovered mandalas, that I became passionate about being an artist. It was as if a pilot light of a furnace had been on all this time, and now, finally, I turned on the heat…to let the furnace do what it so passionately wants to do…warm our home.

Without my strong almost obsessive connection to mandalas, I’d probably still just be dabbling with art projects feeling like I’m wandering in a desert desperate for water not realizing that I had a bottle of water in my backpack.

With today’s MotD, we are encouraged to honor our passion. It’s the secret sauce that makes our life fun and interesting.

How about you ? Are you wanting to make your life more fun and interesting ? Are you ready to make your life more fun and interesting ? Are you ready to turn on the “heat” ?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
