Honor Ourselves

Our focus this week — July 30-Aug 5: “Boundaries”

Today’s MotD: Honor Ourselves. We’re encouraged to honor ourselves by setting boundaries. We dishonor ourselves when we allow people to walk all over us, take advantage of us, or misuse us in any way. However if this type of thing started in our youth, it may be extra challenging to honor ourselves without feeling some form of guilt for fear of how others will react. We must learn that “Honey…that’s their problem not ours.”

Yes, that may be a bit harsher than need be but it may take that in order for us to take our power back, set limits, and stand tall in our empowerment.

In my younger days working as a secretary for the third guy in command at this medical center, the first guy in command had a nasty habit of coming into my space to stand behind me in an inappropriate manner. In talking with some of the other women, he was doing the same to them.

I couldn’t take it any more, so one day when he came in yet again, I jumped up in front of him, holding a letter opener in my hand, and blocked his path. I told him “please stop coming around my desk” (or something to that effect). He thought I was joking, being funny. I had to repeat it about three times before he realized I was serious and raised his hands saying “all right, all right, I’ll stay over here.” He never did it again.

Essentially, we’re encouraged to stand up for ourselves, we are worthy of honor.

How about you ? In what ways do you honor yourself ? What boundaries do you set to honor yourself ? What are some more boundaries you have yet to set ?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
