Grateful for Fear

Our focus this week — Aug 13-19: “Be Not Afraid”

Today’s MotD: Grateful For Fear. Today (and every day, actually), we’re encouraged to be grateful for fear. What a concept! Why ? Mainly it’s giving us a message. It could be letting us know about some imminent danger (physical or otherwise) or it could be telling us that we’re on the brink of some form of expansion (starting a new job, starting a new business, starting a new project, moving to a new location, getting married/divorced, having a baby, and so on).

All of which can seem scary, maybe even scary enough that we might change our minds if we let the fear take hold. The reality is, fear is letting us know that it doesn’t feel safe, it doesn’t feel comfortable. It’s slowing us down to make sure we really want to do whatever it is that we’re wanting to do.

Today’s focus is more about expansion. All of the situations I listed (and others like it) can also be exciting if we see them as part of our expansion. We can be grateful for fear because it’s letting us know (if we didn’t know already) that something is changing, we’re progressing further along our path.

We can treat that fear like a traveling companion, maybe think of it like Winnie the Pooh’s best friend Piglet who has a tendency to be timid and fearful about everything. When the fear (Piglet) shows up, we can comfort Piglet (like the good friend they are) and let them know that “yes, we’re venturing into new territory and that’s okay, we’ll go through it together, knowing we can handle it because we’ve handled other new, scary things before and we’re still here.

How about you ? Is there a fear you’re dealing with now where you would be open to being grateful for it ? If you can, why would you be grateful about this fear ? What is its message ?

BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day

Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.

Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.

Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
