Harmony Makes Beautiful Music
Our focus this week — Sep 10-16: “Harmony”
Today’s MotD: Harmony Makes Beautiful Music. Ever listen to a group of people singing in harmony ? It gives even the most beautiful of melodies so much more depth and vibration. That’s what we’re encouraged to do…rather than participate in discord, create harmony instead.
This story may or may not fit with today’s theme however a memory of mine was triggered by it. Decades ago, when I was about 11 or 12, I was drying dishes as my mother washed while we listed to a pop radio station. It gave me great joy to sing along with the songs and helped ease the drudgery of doing dishes. At one point my mother turned to me and said “I can’t sing two notes but you can’t even sing one.” I was devastated, crushed, and embarrassed. It immediately halted my sing-along mood…and knocked my spirit down a few notches as well.
I don’t remember how much later (a day, week, or month ?) but I came up with this brilliant idea. Well, if I can’t sing, even though I really want to, then I’ll just sing along in harmony. I don’t even know how I figured out the harmonies, but it seemed to come to me naturally. I was able to recapture the joy of singing without “offending” anyone.
To this day I still tend to sing along with the harmonies rather than the melody.
How about you ? Ever notice how it feels to be doing something with other people and everything just clicks and flows in a natural rhythm ? That’s being in harmony. As you go about your days, are you able to see opportunities to create that same feeling ? Are you able to come up with ways to harmonize without sacrificing your spirit ?
BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day
Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.
Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.
Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
