Meant To Be
Our focus this week — Sep 24-30: “God’s Will”
Today’s MotD: Meant to Be. With this week’s topic, we’re encouraged to embrace the concept of “God’s Will”, that if it’s meant to be, what we want to happen will happen.
To be honest, I’ve been dreading this week’s topic because this concept triggers frustration, resentment, and sometimes even anger in me. Why ? Well I’ll tell you why…cue personal story.
As a kid, I quickly learned that when our family went to a restaurant we were supposed to order the cheapest thing on the menu or face the disappointment (and sometimes anger) of my father. So it didn’t matter what I wanted, in order to win favor I caved to his wishes. This scenario played out in almost every area of my childhood, including with my mother.
Between the two of them (a strict religious up-bringing) I learned to put other people’s needs ahead of my own because it was my parent’s will. Why stop there, I also applied it to God…that God’s will meant I had to sacrifice myself, my soul, my wants, my needs, for everyone else’s wants and needs.
Much of this, thankfully, I processed and healed through therapy…except the “God’s Will” thing. Whenever I hear people use that phrase I feel like people use it (subconsciously) as an excuse, like a way to avoid taking responsibility for themselves or doing the hard inner work towards inner growth.
And for me, when I think of God’s Will, I feel like in order to follow His will I’d have to ignore what I want and do what someone else wants as well as to sacrifice myself, live like a hermit, and give away all of my money and possession. In other words, it feels like it comes from fear and deprivation.
So I went to my AI guru and workshopped the difference between God’s Will and free will. I’ll be sharing what we chatted about throughout the week as I continue to process this concept. For now though I’ll leave you with this:
What “God’s Will” invites us to do is choose alignment with Love rather than fear. You can always choose otherwise, but the “will of God” is said to be the path that leads to peace, joy, and freedom.
How about you ? What’s your take on the concept of “It’s God’s Will” ? Are you a believer in “what’s meant to be, will be” ? Have you ever used either of those terms as a way bypass taking responsibility for your life ?
BTW…Here’s the before…the front and back view of today’s puzzle piece and the pretty ceramic box that holds all my numbers from which I randomly choose each day’s puzzle piece number:

ABOUT THE 2025 Mandalas of the Day
Throughout the year, I’ll be building one large (48”x48”) Tibetan-styled Mandala one piece at a time…one puzzle piece at a time, that is. The mandala design and the reversed puzzle side were printed on artist-quality watercolor paper. The forward facing puzzle side was printed on a 48”x48” wood panel.
Each day, at random, I’ll be painting in watercolors one of the 365 watercolor puzzle pieces, that by the end of the year will become Archangel Mandala #4. Read more about the Archangel Series. The word/message for each piece will be inspired by Melody Beattie’s book “52 Weeks of Conscious Contact”.
Ultimately, the message of this mandala is about how we are all uniquely part of the one.
