Lesson 042: ”God is my strength. Vision is His gift.”
AI Reframe: Real clarity comes from aligning with inner strength.
Suggested Practice:
Two three-to-five-minute practice periods today. One at the beginning of the day and one at the end. Slowly repeat today’s idea, while looking about you. Then close your eyes and repeat the idea again, even slower than before. Now, rather than search out or force your thoughts, let thoughts rise up in you, without censuring, as it relates to the idea for the day.
NOTE: If the language used for this practice is uncomfortable or triggering in any way, feel free to modify it so that the message resonates more clearly. One option might be:
Inner Wisdom is My Strength. Clarity is Its Gift.
Examples from the lesson of possible thoughts that might arise:
Vision must be possible. God gives truly.
or
God’s gifts to me must be mine, because He gave them to me.
If no thoughts arise, open your eyes, slowly repeat the idea as you look about you, then close, and slowly repeat the idea again.
Throughout the day, repeat the idea to yourself often.

Message
At its core, this lesson is about cause and effect.
If I align with my Inner Wisdom—the Course uses the term “God”—the effect is clarity. Direction. Insight.
If I don’t? I get mental ping-pong.
When I find myself bouncing from task to task—or avoiding what actually needs my attention by doom-scrolling, watching funny YouTube videos, doing sudoku or crossword puzzles, raiding the refrigerator when I’m not even hungry—that’s my cue. I’ve wandered into ego-mind territory.
Full confession: except for the crossword puzzles, I did all of that instead of writing this post.
It was fear.
Not because I don’t understand today’s idea—but because the wording triggered me.
“You will see because it is the will of God.”
“It is His strength, not your own, that gives you power.”
“It is His gift, rather than your own, that offers vision to you.”
At first glance, that felt like: God has the power. I don’t.
So much for free will.
But then I remembered a central principle of the Course: God’s Will for us is perfect happiness.
Alignment with God’s Will—what I call Inner Wisdom—is alignment with Love. And Love is not interested in control. Love is interested in peace, joy, and freedom.
“His strength” isn’t about taking my power away.
It’s about borrowing from something steadier than fear.
“His gift of vision” isn’t about replacing my sight.
It’s about clearing the static so I can see clearly.
So when I notice the ego-mind frenzy beginning, I stop. I breathe. Hand over heart, I ask:
What would Love have me do right now?
Today the answer was simple:
Do the practice.
Write the post.
Color the mandala.
Publish.
Not because I’m powerless.
But because when I align with Love, I’m stronger than fear.
My procrastination today wasn’t failure—it was the lesson playing out in real time.
Cause: fear. Effect: avoidance.
New cause: alignment. New effect: clarity and action.
“For today, as often as I can, I will breathe and know that whatever train of thoughts plows through my head is all okay.”
