Lesson 067: ”Love created me like Itself”

Throughout the day—ideally, 4-5+ times an hour—repeat the idea because we need to hear the truth about ourselves as frequently as possible. The truth that Love created you like Itself.
* The Course defines “God” as an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message.

Message
If I could only do, absorb, and embrace one lesson from A Course in Miracles, this would be the one. Up until now, we’ve been tip-toeing around this idea. Today we land solidly. Today we learn about our true identity.
Growing up Catholic, I was taught that we were made in the image and likeness of God. To me, that meant some old white guy with a long beard sitting on a throne, judging and punishing us if we didn’t behave as the Church instructed.
Over time, I came to see it differently: If we’re made in our Creator’s image, then we too are meant to be creators—of our world and our lives.
Now today, we learn this:
“Today’s idea is a complete and accurate statement of what you are. This is why you are the light of the world. This is why God appointed you as the world’s savior.” (ACIM, W-67.1:1-3)
And here’s the challenging part: Today’s idea applies to all of us—even those we consider horrible or evil. The Course teaches that their true identity, like ours, remains untouched by what they do. We’re not being asked to condone behavior, just to recognize that Love created them too.
All we need do today is remind ourselves—repeatedly—Love created us like Itself.
