Lesson 078: ”Let miracles replace all grievances.”
AI Reframe: Let insight replace resentment.
Suggested Exercise:
For the longer practices, choose someone with whom you have a grievance***. Hold them in your mind, first as you know them now: their faults, your difficulties with them, the pain they caused you, their neglect, and all the little and larger hurts they gave. Regard their body with its flaws and better points as well, along with their mistakes and even their “sins”.
Then, with eyes closed, ask of Him* Who knows this person in their reality and truth that you be shown a different way of looking at them and see them in the light of true forgiveness. The lesson offers this prayer:
“³Let me behold my savior** in this one You have appointed as the one for me to ask to lead me to the holy light in which he stands, that I may join with him.” (ACIM, W-78.7:3)
Or you’re welcome to use this version, with a touch of Rumi at the end:
Behind this grievance is a light I long to see.
Help me find it in you,
so that I might finally see us
not as enemy and wounded,
but as fellow sojourners,
just walking each other home.
As you think of this person, let your mind be shown the light in them beyond your grievances. Sit in quiet communion with this light, so that you may return to peace.
For shorter practices, throughout the day apply this idea to each one you meet or see today (physically and virtually).
Let miracles replace all grievances.
* The Course defines “Him[God]” as an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message.
** Salvation is simply the choice to let go of guilt and see the world—and everyone in it—through the eyes of love, thereby waking up from the dream of separation.
*** A grievance is anything that overshadows, blocks, or disconnects me from my true Self: love, peace, and joy. It’s the insane decision to hold onto the chains (the past) because we’re afraid that letting them go would mean disappearing into a light we don’t yet trust.

Message
This is probably the most challenging lesson of all. We’re being asked to turn our highly treasured grievances into miracles. I say “highly treasured” because our grievances are tied to our identity as victims. Who would we be without our victimhood? We would be free.
Free from suffering. A joy to behold. A source of love and light.
And all we have to do is turn our grievances into miracles. When we hear the word “miracle,” we often think of something only saints and prophets can do. But Jesus told us something different. He essentially said, “What I do, you can do. And not just the same, but greater.”
ACIM takes it a step further and defines a miracle simply as a shift in perception. It’s not about parting seas or multiplying loaves. It’s about choosing to see with love instead of fear. It’s about looking at the person who triggers you most and whispering, “Behind this grievance is a light I long to see. Help me find it in you.”
Yesterday I shared my experience of converting my grievance with my father into a miracle. And here’s the thing: I didn’t need to know how it was going to happen. I only had to ask for help in seeing the situation differently. By morning I had my answer.
The prayer I use—the simplest way to ask—is this:
Help me see this differently.
“This” being any person, situation, or grievance blocking your peace. Feel free to direct it toward your deity of choice.
“I must first heal my perceptions. The world is a projection of my mind, and today’s lesson asks me to choose just one lucky individual and use him or her to heal the planet.”
