Lesson 082: ”REVIEW: The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness. Let me not forget my function”

AI Reframe: Letting go of grievances opens the door to genuine freedom.

Suggested Exercise:

From the Review:

“The longer practice periods will follow this general form: Take about fifteen minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the ideas for the day, and the comments that are included in the assignments. ²Devote some three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.

”Repeat the first phase of the exercise period if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the time listening quietly but attentively. ²There is a message waiting for you. ³Be confident that you will receive it.⁴Remember that it belongs to you, and that you want it.”(ACIM, W-rII.in.2:1–3:4)

“Reaffirm your determination [to fulfill your function] in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general applications, and more specific forms when needed.” (ACIM, W-rII.in.6:1)

For Lesson 63:

The light of the world brings peace to every mind through my forgiveness*.

My forgiveness allows the light to be expressed through me, reminding me that I am the light, and with that the world and I am healed.

For Lesson 64:

Let me not forget my function.

By remembering who I am—the light of the world—I also remember my function. Be the light for the world and see the light in everyone, which the Course calls forgiveness*.

Message

Yesterday we established:

We are the light of the world.
Our function is to light up the world.
See the light in everyone.

Today we build on that with forgiveness*, the way we fulfill our function. By seeing everyone as the light of the world, we’re connecting with their True Self. We’re not condoning harmful behavior—whether done to us or by us—we’re seeing who they truly are.

When we focus on behavior, our ego-minds create grievances that pull us away from peace, turning us into victims. What our ego-minds fail to realize is that doing so hides our light and creates more suffering. Why would we want that?

Know this: behavior and the seeming harm it causes have no effect on who we are. We’re still the light of the world. No harm, no foul.

Every time I reflect on my role as the light of the world, I see myself doing everything that lights me up—done without fear, done with joy.

Today we add:

Be the light of the world.

* Forgiveness is letting go of the illusion that anyone—including yourself—has truly done anything wrong, thereby recognizing that neither the hurt you received nor the hurt you thought you caused has changed the innocent truth of what or who you are.

“When I let go of everything I believe, perfect days unfurl before me.”
