Lesson 089: REVIEW ”I am entitled to miracles. Let miracles replace all grievances.”
AI Reframe: Letting go frees my mind and renews my vision.
Suggested Exercise:
From the Review:
“The longer practice periods will follow this general form: Take about fifteen minutes for each of them, and begin by thinking about the ideas for the day, and the comments that are included in the assignments. ²Devote some three or four minutes to reading them over slowly, several times if you wish, and then close your eyes and listen.”
”Repeat the first phase of the exercise period if you find your mind wandering, but try to spend the major part of the time listening quietly but attentively. ²There is a message waiting for you. ³Be confident that you will receive it.⁴Remember that it belongs to you, and that you want it.”(ACIM, W-rII.in.2:1–3:4)
“Reaffirm your determination [to fulfill your function] in the shorter practice periods as well, using the original form of the idea for general applications, and more specific forms when needed.” (ACIM, W-rII.in.6:1)
For Lesson 77: I am entitled to miracles.
“²I am entitled to miracles because I am under no laws but God’s*. ³His laws release me from all grievances, and replace them with miracles**. ⁴And I would accept the miracles in place of the grievances***, which are but illusions that hide the miracles beyond. ⁵Now I would accept only what the laws of God entitle me to have, that I may use it on behalf of the function He has given me.” (ACIM, W-89.1:2-5)
For Lesson 78: Let miracles replace all grievances.***
”²By this idea do I unite my will with the Holy Spirit’s, and perceive them as one. ³By this idea do I accept my release from hell. ⁴By this idea do I express my willingness to have all my illusions be replaced with truth, according to God’s plan for my salvation. ⁵I would make no exceptions and no substitutes. ⁶I want all of Heaven and only Heaven, as God wills me to have.” (ACIM, W-89.3:2-6)
* The Course defines “Him[God]” as an impersonal, formless, and infinite principle of pure Love. Substitute whatever term that resonates best and allows you to receive the message. God’s will for us is happiness.
** Miracles are what happen when we shift who we listen to—from the ego-mind to the Divine Mind. It’s the move from being a victim of the outer world to feeling empowered from within.
*** A grievance is anything that overshadows, blocks, or disconnects me from my true Self: love, peace, and joy. It’s the insane decision to hold onto the chains (the past) because we’re afraid that letting them go would mean disappearing into a light we don’t yet trust.

Message
From previous reviews:
- I am the light of the world.
- My function is to light up the world with this light.
- I recognize and acknowledge the light in everyone.
- I act as the light I am—by being happy and doing what makes me happy, as Love would have me do.
- When fear or grievances diminish my light, I remember who I am: Love, which transforms all grievances.
- The ego-mind creates the grievances that hide my light; my True Self saves me from them.
- Knowing this, I choose between hiding my light or shining it.
- The peace, love, and joy we seek is already within us—just remove the ego’s veil.
Today we add two more:
- I am entitled to miracles.
- Let miracles replace all grievances.
Miracles—from The Course’s perspective—are what happen when we shift from listening to the ego-mind to listening to the Divine Mind. As followers of God’s Law, we’re entitled to them because they’re the most direct way to return to our natural state of peace, love, and joy. Our entitlement isn’t about deserving; it’s about willingness to receive.
While the common perception of miracles is more external—being cured of an illness, finding a lost treasured item, winning the lottery, changing water into wine—the real miracle is when we change our minds and see things and people in a new light.
For instance, I held a grievance toward my paternal grandmother for years. Of all her children, she was most hurtful to her first-born—my father. Even after she passed, she left him a pittance while being overly generous with her other three children.
As a teenager, I saw enough of her damaging behavior to become resentful. At the same time, it gave me a better understanding of where my father’s hurtful behavior toward me, my mother, and my siblings was rooted.
Decades later, in a hypnotherapy session, I set the intention to understand why my father was so angry all the time. In trance, the energy of my grandmother appeared—she’d passed about ten years earlier. She shared three visions with me—too private to share here—that gave me a whole new perspective on both of them and their behaviors.
I came out of it feeling so much love for her and my father—it was truly a miracle. I saw them in a whole new light: their light. It doesn’t excuse their behavior, but it released me from my grievances with both of them. I’m at peace with them.
Over time, I’ve come to learn the three-step process for experiencing miracles:
- Ask the Holy Spirit to help me see this differently.
- Listen for Its reply.
- Embrace it.
