Lesson 102: ”I share God’s Will for happiness for me.”

AI Reframe: I choose happiness as my natural state.

Suggested Exercise:
For the first five minutes of each hour—or whenever feasible—sit quietly to feel the truth of today’s lesson. Begin with saying this:

I share God’s Will for happiness for me.

”³Then seek this function deep within your mind, for it is there, awaiting but your choice. ⁴You cannot fail to find it when you learn it is your choice, and that you share God’s Will.” (ACIM, W-102.4:3-4)

Remember, God’s Will for us is happiness.

”[P]ause frequently today, to tell yourself that you have now accepted happiness as your one function.” (ACIM, W-102.5:3)

Message

The lesson starts with this:

“You do not want to suffer. You may think it buys you something, and may still believe a little that it buys you what you want. Yet this belief is surely shaken now, at least enough to let you question it, and to suspect it really makes no sense. It has not gone as yet, but lacks the roots that once secured it tightly to the dark and hidden secret places of your mind.”

“Today we try to loose its weakened hold still further, and to realize that pain is purposeless, without a cause and with no power to accomplish anything. It cannot purchase anything at all. It offers nothing, and does not exist. And everything you think it offers you is lacking in existence, like itself. You have been slave to nothing. Be you free today to join the happy Will of God.” (ACIM, W-102.1:1–2:6)

Remember, God’s Will for us is happiness.

During the practice, that became real as happy childhood memories flooded in like a high-speed slide show. Most showed me playing with friends. Others showed me alone doing arts and crafts. The common denominator was feeling safe—free from judgment and criticism.

As I got older, I faced more outward judgment and criticism: parents, the church, schools. Eventually, those negative thoughts went inward, and I perpetuated the patterns myself. None of it made me happy. It only created more pain and suffering. And to what end? To continue the ego’s false sense of importance as victim?

Now, going through these lessons, it’s starting to click that God is not some judgmental being analyzing everything I do to decide whether I go to hell or heaven. Knowing that God’s Will for me is happiness helps me embrace that it’s okay for me to be happy. In fact, it’s highly encouraged.

This changes things: I can pay attention to what truly makes me happy. The things I enjoyed as a kid, I can enjoy now without letting judgments—by others or myself—stand in my way. Instead of pain, joy can be my purpose. Be the light, see the light.

I also see that when I’m happy, it positively affects those around me, showing them it’s okay to be happy—a ripple effect where we all share in God’s Will for happiness for us.
