Most fairs and amusement parks have one ferris wheel. This one at the Pushkar Camel Fair in India has FOUR! Each one beautifully demonstrates a simple, symmetrical mandala-like pattern. Photography Emraan Shariff took this beautiful shot of these delightful ferris wheels.

Along with the ferris wheels being circular, the seats/buckets are circular as well…and very colorful as seen by this photo by Bibek Bhattacharya

While roller coasters are more my thing when in comes to amusement park rides, ferris wheels can be a cool ride if you’re okay with heights.

This particular carnival is quite the event of the year in Pushkar. Here’s what their web site states:

Held each November at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon, Pushkar Camel Fair is one of India’s most highly-rated travel experiences, a spectacle on an epic scale, attracting more than 11,000 camels, horses and cattle and visited by over 400,000 people over a period of around fourteen days.

For visitors it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the colour, spectacle and carnival of one of the last great traditional melas, which brings livestock, farmers, traders and villagers from all over Rajasthan.

Happy Coloring!

If you would like your mandala to be considered for the “Mandala of the Day”, read how on the Participate page. It’s easy!  Or recommend one you’ve seen via my Contact page.
