1995. oil on linen. 38 x 38 in.
World-renowned visionary artist, Alex Grey, created this powerfully mesmerizing mandala. For me, his art touches beyond the physical into the metaphysical, the soul and the spiritual.
In a Neurosoup article, The Visionary Art of Pablo Amaringo and Alex Grey
by Gregory Folken, he describes Grey’s mandala as such:
His painting gives the illusion of rising infinitely toward the bright light above. Unity, or oneness, is captured by Grey depicting each of the faces sharing an eye and connecting the entire composition with a net of glowing yellow lines. This piece also has the other visionary art attributes of clairvoyance, transformative beings and realms, and visionary abstraction.
That being said, instead of reading about Grey’s art, I find it best to just experience the art, to let it do its magic…and in person if you can. In the meantime you can view his art here: The Art of Alex Grey
Happy Coloring!
