155 – Salmon Mandala

Salmon Mandala by the Confluence Project
Salmon Mandala by the Confluence Project

Wow! I LOVE everything about this one! The location, the colors, the participants, the organizers, the design, and their mission.

Here’s the Confluence Project‘s facebook post about this photo from June 2, 2015:

Look at this picture very closely. And once you see what it is, share it widely. See this salmon? All those red dots are 280 kids and community members from the Dallesport, Wishram and Lyle School Districts, small towns along the Columbia River and home to many Native students. This moment was two years in the making and happened because of Confluence in the Classroom, in collaboration with Art for the Sky and artist Daniel Dancer. They did it on property owned by Friends of the Columbia Gorge. Thanks to Lyle teacher Ann Scott. She above all deserves credit for fulfilling the Confluence mission to connect people to place through art and education.

I’m happy to share this with my MotD followers.

When we color together…great things happen.

Happy Coloring!
