This delightful bookcase, designed and built by French furniture designer, Elsa Pagis, is constructed of completely of cardboard…yes…I said, cardboard. She designed and created a whole series of cardboard furniture and decorative items from a very accessible material: cardboard.
Translated from her site, she states:
The furniture is made of corrugated cardboard, glued, sanded, and then decorated with refined lacquer art paper. They are original, strong and lightweight. Some might think that this is just decoration but it is real furniture, functional and solid: where you can put things, a library in which we can put books…This is a mix of art and technology!
I love how for this piece she used the round shape for her bookcase structure and even more so that she designed the interior with a spiral! Why have a plain, ordinary rectangle place to store your books when you can build this functional work of art.
I now have a whole new perspective and appreciation for cardboard.
Happy Coloring!
