This week’s MotD theme: Yin Yang
Using a McCalls pattern from the May/June 2011 magazine, quilter, DejahG of Quilting Board, created this awesome quilt of multiple yin yangs with a variety of fabrics in bright and bold, solid and patterned colors. It’s interesting how she rotated the design throughout as well.
As I look at each symbol, they each have their own mood and energy…some subdued, some vibrant, and some in between. For people who struggle with figuring out which colors to use in their colorings, this quilt shows us that it’s okay to mix just about any color with any other color! Go for it! Play!
Inspiration For Today
Dejah’s quilt demonstrates what I like to encourage colorers of mandalas to do…color them more than once. Depending on your mood, your intention or even the time of day, your coloring of the same mandala design will be different. It’s fascinating to notice just how different they can be.
Or another inspiration would be to gather together a group where everyone colors their own version of the same mandala design…then discuss the results. Fun stuff!
Happy Coloring!
If you would want your mandala or your idea for a mandala to be considered for the “Mandala of the Day”, read about how on the Participate page. It’s easy! Or recommend one you’ve seen via my Contact page.
