This week’s MotD theme: Metal
Metal artists, Jima and Carlie Abbott, of Mixed Metal Jewels, created these exquisite metal mandalas “composed of multi metal layers, the top layer pierced with a thin jewelers saw blade in a variety of patterns and the back layer(s) textured by stamping or roller printing.”
I absolutely LOVE these mandalas! The designs, the patterns, the layout, the colors…all of it; they are stunning! And look at their amazing attention to details. They state that the “ones pictured here were all created during the last 10 or 12 years.”
Inspiration for Today
The Abbott’s mandalas remind us that we too are multi-layered beings and that while one or two layers by themselves lack any beauty or anything interesting to see, combined they form a beautiful masterpiece. Reminding us also that we are more than just the layer we present to others or that others present to us. What’s beneath the surface?
Happy Coloring!
If you would want your mandala or your idea for a mandala to be considered for the “Mandala of the Day”, read about how on the Participate page. It’s easy! Or recommend one you’ve seen via my Contact page.

I love these mandalas! I was a artist and designer for 30 yrs at Fisher-Price. Since I retired, I have gotten into leather work I think you should approach some of the leather suppliers (ex . weaver leather craft) about using your beautiful Mandelas as conchos fore decorating leather goods. They are usually a little smaller 1/2”, 3/4”, 1”1 1/4” to1 1/2” I’m sure they could shrink you existing ones as well. Good luck!
