This week’s MotD theme: Ceilings
San Francisco mural artist Lynne Rutter created this delightful rococo styled mural of the Nine Muses for the ceiling at the headquarters of the David Allen Company in Raleigh, NC. Who wouldn’t feel creatively inspired by this heavenly scene? It’s divinely dreamy.
While asymmetrical in design, it incorporates symmetry with the round border, round indentation and the simple yet elegant circular lighting fixture.
A little bit about Lynne:
In 1990, she founded her own boutique atelier, with a mission to create custom, fine-art murals, and “super-fussy ornament, the kind you have to do by hand, and that you want to look at up-close.”
Inspiration for Today
The Muses … in Greek mythology are the goddesses of the inspiration of literature, science, and the arts. They were considered the source of the knowledge embodied in the poetry, song-lyrics, and myths that were related orally for centuries in these ancient cultures.
Lynne’s beautiful painting depicts these lovely goddesses of inspiration. Today’s MotD begs these questions:
- who/what inspires us to be creative?
- what area (literature, science, the arts) do we feel most inspired?
- which of these goddesses would we want as our muse?
- Or would we rather connect with our own inner muse for inspiration?
- If so, what name would we give her/him/it?
If you would want your mandala or your idea for a mandala to be considered for the “Mandala of the Day”, read about how on the Participate page. It’s easy! Or recommend one you’ve seen via my Contact page.
