This week’s MotD theme: Murals
Mural Painter, Public Artist, and Photographer from Vancouver BC, head quartered in Oakland California, Julia Davis, a.k.a. Bud Snow, created this magnificent ground-level mural in the shallow bed of an abandoned fountain in Juilliard Park in Santa Rosa, CA.
Commissioned by the Santa Rosa Art in Public Places Committee with a grant from Downtown Connect, Bud Snow, along with friends and community, painted this fun, vibrant and lively mandala.
“I want people to come picnic here, hang out here, do yoga here, dance on it, run on it, skateboard on it,” Snow said of the mandala project.
About her art she states:
“I’ve been toying with the term Neo-Primalism…a school of work I associate with automatism in community space. Intuitive painting, photography, and installation as direct response to the ample ironies and absurdities of living.”
“I’m concerned with Humanism, Animalism, Neo-Primalism. I work with a medium format rangefinder, a spray can, and a paintbrush. I like to work outside.”

Inspiration for Today
Bud Snow’s mandala inspires us to play, to go primal even. Dance with joy, play with heart, create with aliveness.
Happy Coloring!
