This week’s MotD Theme: A MAZE Zing Journey

British fine artist Fiona Owen created this stunning masterpiece entitled “As Above So Below”. It beautifully illustrates an 11-circuit labyrinth at its center with a variety of colorful trees, plants and critters supporting and surrounding it, as inspired by illustrations found in traditional Medieval manuscripts.

As an artist, this exquisite piece of art blows open the limited boundaries I set for myself and inspires me to broaden my scope of creativity and imagination. Her use of colors, patterns and textures, with the added imagery around the mandala center opens my eyes to other possibilities beyond my scope of my artistic skills and understanding.

About her paintings as stated on her web site (shared with her artist husband F. John Owen):

Inspiration for her extraordinarily intricate, lyrical paintings is drawn from her native landscape – the flora and fauna and the changing seasons, and her Celtic inheritance.

She endeavours to capture the elusive Wild Magic that is the genius loci – the spirit unique to each place.

Her paintings are a celebration of, and a homage to, Nature. She works in the tradition of the Mystic Visionaries, from William Blake, Samuel Palmer, Richard Jeffries, through to Cedric Morris, Kathleen Raine and Robin Tanner, and believes this pattern in painting and writing to be a thread through time, existing metaphysically as a united body of consciousness.

View more of her extraordinary art via her web site gallery, her facebook page, or in a series of books, Weeds in the Heart, she illustrated with the writings of herbalist Nathaniel Hughes.

Inspiration For Today

Fiona’s mystical, magical art encourages us to experience the mystical and magical realms that exist all around us. When we just take the time to be present for it, it shows up in delightful ways.

Happy Coloring!
