This Week’s Theme: Kites
Canadian freelance journalist Suzanne Lapointe with CBC News captured an interesting angle of this big, bold, colorful kite while covering the 2016 International Kite Festival in Dieppe, New Brunswick, CA last August.
According to Suzanne, “this round kite requires a significant amount of wind to take off. Kite fliers were nervous but they did manage to get it in the air Wednesday.”
Because of the angle of this photo, when we look at the side view we see the cones. When we see the kite straight on, we see circles. I love how the maker of this kite spiraled the rainbow colors around the kite. Even the strips of white material help create the symmetrical mandala look of this kite. What fun all around! (pardon the pun)
Inspiration for Today
“I see children as kites. You spend a lifetime trying to get them off the ground. You run with them until you’re both breathless. They crash . . . you add a longer tail . . . you patch and comfort, adjust and teach. You watch them lifted by the wind and assure them that someday they’ll fly.” ~
