This week’s theme: Rocks
I present my coloring/painting of this week’s Mandala of the Week: Rocks (from Sunday’s MotD post). Before painting this one and while contemplating it, I heard “follow the yellow brick road” and noticed the “paths” leading up to the tops of the “hoodoos” (MotD 126) and the tops of the basalt columns (MotD 125) as steps. Once I painted the yellow areas, I “saw” the columns as greens and blues and the “hoodoos” as pinks and blues.
Overall it seems this mandala encourages us to take the necessary steps to get where we’re going; sometimes it’s a leap, sometimes it’s an uphill climb. Now as I look at the completed hoodoos they look like wise sages sitting awaiting our arrival to give us counsel and inspiration.
I used Holbein, Golden, and M. Graham acrylic paints with Golden Matte Medium and a black ink pen to re-outline the design.
Soon I’ll be posting images of my progress through this painting on my ArtProgressions.com blog site.
Inspiration for Today
“Walk on your own yellow brick road. If you can’t find one, spray paint your way into happiness. If that doesn’t work, buy yellow shoes.” ~ Sadiqua Hamdan
Happy Coloring!
