Abstract Mandala #2 – Marigold with Blue
For the first time in 2 years, I pulled this painting out with the intention of upgrading it. While I thought it was a good start, it felt incomplete to me. So today I created more depth and definition to the “raindrops” and their shadows. I added an opaque magenta and marigold to the “drop” shadows and dark blue to the blue “drops”.
Now that I’m back into it, the fire is lit, the gears are moving, and I’m already seeing the next two things I want to add to this painting. I’m so excited!
BTW: When I asked for title suggestions for this mandala, two were offered: “Spring Reign” and “Raindrops Surfing in Sand“. What do you think? Do either of these fit? What title would you give it?

A Change is Afoot!
In case you’re wondering…I decided to change the focus of this blog to one where I share my art in progress. While I enjoyed and learned a lot from its previous incarnation, it’s time for me to move forward with my own art. So I’m dropping the weekly themes and going as the spirit moves me.
With its new focus, I’ll be posting a variety of in-progress art which includes mandalas from the Mandala of the Week, the Mandala of the Month, the Mandala of the Year, and the Mandala Meditation Stones.
Happy Coloring!
joyfully, Maureen
