Worked on finishing three mandalas that had been painted previously and had yet to be “framed”. I put framed in quotes because I’m technically adhering the paintings to a wood surface so they are being framed from behind rather than the tradition framing with mattes, glass, and wood or metal frames.
My progress today:

Since the wood panels for the “Yellow and Purple” Mandala and the “Cosmic Spirals” Mandala were prepped on a previous day, I started on prepping the panel for “Primrose” Mandala 2 using Golden’s vibrant permanent violet dark (image 2).
I had some paint left over on my palette and rather than try to put it back into its tube I decided to prep the side of another gesso’d wood panel (image 3) and an 8×8 canvas (image 4). I’ll use them at a later date for something fun I’m sure.
Once I trimmed “Yellow and Purple” and “Cosmic Spirals” with gold paint (image 5), I glued them onto their respective wood panels. Image #6 demonstrates the mundane creativity required to add weight so the glue will set strongly to the mandalas and the wood panels. 🙂
About the Mandalas of the Day:
I post a variety of in-progress art for that day which can include mandalas from the Mandala of the Week, the Mandala of the Month, the Mandala of the Year, or the Mandala Meditation Stones.
Happy Coloring!
joyfully, Maureen
