I began this as a “happenings” painting in 2009. As this week’s Mandala of the Week, I plan to transform and update it into a mandala painting.
My progress today:
I love playing with my happenings art because it allows me to be creative with what “happened” as part of the poured ink process. It’s more of a co-creative project where I poured the ink, the wet watercolor paper let it spread and go where it wanted to go, and then I come back in to enhance the dried result, which is always a nice surprise. Very little, if any, thinking takes place; it’s more of an intuitive process.
Today I started on the right hand side to look at what felt like wanted to happen. More pathways here, dots over there, clusters of dots over here. I’m beginning to see movement and “thingies” coming to life.
