Today I started on the fourth sign of the Astrological Wheel: Cancer – The Crab.
My coloring progress for today:

1 – start with the design
2 – start adding “dull ivory” background
3 – center background
4 – “dull ivory” to one of the side patterns
5 – full view of today’s progress
In 2012 I created a hyperbolic tessellation mandala for each of the zodiac signs. For Cancer, its symbol is a crab and its claws. It’s fascinating how the overall pattern turned into a collection of “safety pins”.
Without looking I reached into my bin of colors to pick a starting color for the background and it turned out to be an earthy color called “dulled ivory”…to me it feels like a warm brown, like a rich soil awaiting its seeds to germinate.
Read about the “Sign of Cancer” as this week’s Mandala of the Week.
About the Mandalas of the Day:
I post a variety of in-progress art for that day which can include mandalas from the Mandala of the Week, the Mandala of the Month, the Mandala of the Year, or the Mandala Meditation Stones.
Happy Coloring!
joyfully, Maureen

My Mission: connecting with our Inner Light in delightful, inspiring ways
For me, creating mandalas is more than just coloring pretty patterns in a circle. I do it because my spiritual evolution and creativity require it of me. My mandala designs come about within an active meditative state, connected with my higher self, my spiritual guides and nature spirits.
Together, we bring into form, mandala art the allows me to re-connect with my own inner peace and joy, letting me explore and expand my own creative spirit to however far and in whatever direction I want to take it.
As part of my own spiritual journey, I encourage, and hopefully inspire, others to explore their own creativity, to help them re-connect with their own inner peace and joy. As a means to that end, I make all of my mandalas available for people to color. Why should I have all the fun?
