Today’s Mandala
Practice
“An ounce of practice is worth more
— Mahatma Gandhi
than tons of preaching.”
“Knowledge is of no value unless
— Anton Chekhov
you put it into practice.”
“Practice means to perform, over and over
— Martha Graham
again in the face of all obstacles,
some act of vision, of faith, of desire.
Practice is a means of inviting
the perfection desired.”
Today’s MotD reminds us that while it serves us well to study and learn all that we can to make our dream a reality, until we put it into practice it fails to serve us and the dream. It’s all well and good to read books and take classes, yet without putting in the time to apply what we learn, the effort fails to move us to the next level.
Recognize that some form of fear (rejection, failure, looking stupid) is keeping us from practicing. We are being given permission to embrace those fears and practice anyway; to practice, to mess up, to fumble our way to mastering that which brings us joy and satisfaction. And from that place, that’s where we can serve ourselves and the greater good.
