Today’s Mandala Message: Persist in the Face of Obstacles

This week I’m working through Principles #21 and #22 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Keep Score For Success” and “Practice Persistence”, respectively. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of persisting in the face of obstacles. Canfield states: “Sometimes you are going to have to persist in the face of obstacles … Sometimes, you’ll encounter what seem like overwhelming odds. And sometimes, the universe will test your commitment to the goal you’re pursuing. The going may be hard, requiring you to refuse to give up while you learn new lessons, develop new parts of yourself, and make difficult decisions.

Of late I’ve been learning to see obstacles as a way to slow down and possibly re-group. It may be that the obstacle leads me towards a better way or that I need to take a different approach. I have an upcoming window display installation coming up and I’ve been struggling with how best to do it. I couldn’t move forward with the project until I figured it out. Then one day this voice in my head told me to talk to a local artist and curator. Within 15 minutes of being with her, she gave me an easy, elegant solution. Now that I’ve overcome that obstacle (with her generous help), I’m able to continue on with the project.

So how about you? When faced with an obstacle, do you turn the other? Do you give up? Do you seek help? Do you find another way to persist?

pushes me to be bold
and seek out the opportunities
I’ve wanted.
It starts by envisioning
what you want,
no matter how big or small,
and believing
that you can achieve it.”
