Today’s Mandala Message: What’s the Next Action?
This week I’m working through Principle #27 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Keep Your Eye on the Prize”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of determining the next action to take on my goals. Based on Canfield’s Daily Success Focus Journal system, the “next action” is determined based on what was achieved today. In simple terms think of it like this: because I did “this” today, now I can do “that” tomorrow. Whatever “that” is, is the next action to take. Canfield suggests when you establish the next action, schedule it on your calendar or whatever system you use. Using this tool, helps to keep the momentum going.
Because of an earlier principle, I’ve written down all the tasks it will take to achieve two of my priority goals. By doing this, whenever I’m not sure what to do next, I can refer to my list and find a task or tasks that I can do right then. It helps minimizes time wasted trying to figure it out without a reference list.
A good mindfulness practice would be to become still and let the goal/project/task let you know the next action to take.
So how about you? Do you know what your next action is going to be? Are you able to determine most of the action steps needed so that you can easily see the next step to take? Do you have an easy way to know what your next action is?
“Be simple and
— Carl Jung
always take the next step.
You needn’t see it in advance,
but you can look back at it afterwards.
There is no ‘how’ of life,
one just does it.”
