Today’s Mandala Message: Face the Facts
This week I’m working through Principle #30 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Face What Isn’t Working”. I set my intention today to ponder the idea of facing the facts of what’s working and what’s not. My tendency is to ignore these facts or admit to them but gloss over them or put off dealing with them for another day. Mainly, I think it’s because it appears overwhelming to me. I give myself the false impression that I can’t handle it right now…when I know that that’s probably not true.
Canfield states: “If you are going to become more successful, you have to get out of denial and face what isn’t working in your life. … Successful people face these circumstances squarely, heed the warning signs, and take appropriate action, no matter how uncomfortable or challenging it might be.” In writing out this statement, it occurs to me that behind my denials may be a fear of success and the belief that with more success comes more work and more responsibilities … and that I won’t be able to handle it. I’ve become too comfortable with the way things are … any yet I want more for myself. So it would appear that I’ve begun my “face the facts” journey.
A good mindfulness practice would be to sit with the facts.
So how about you? Are you in denial about what’s not working in your life right now? Are you ready to face them? What’s at the root of your denial(s)?
