Today’s Mandala Message: What are you Ignoring?
This week I’m working through Principle #30 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Face What Isn’t Working”. I set my intention today to ponder what it is I’m ignoring. Canfield states: “Yellow alerts are all those little signals you get that something’s not right. … Sometimes we chose to acknowledge these alerts and take action, but more often than not, we simply choose to ignore them. We pretend not to notice that something’s amiss.”
One area I notice myself and others ignoring the yellow flags is with health issues. For me I tend to ignore some health-related issues because I fear that the doctors will want to put me on drugs and that I’ll have to be on them for the rest of my life…and lord only knows what side effects I’d have to endure. It’s weird. I can deal with being sick…but not being on drugs.
I remember the one time my father-in-law (now former) came to visit and he filled to overflowing a large bowl with all of his pill bottles. Half of them he was taking to counteract the side effects of the other half. I don’t want to ever be in that situation. I realize my fear my be a little off the deep end and I know that most medications out there do help (and have helped me as well) but I don’t want to alter my state unless it’s absolutely necessary, and hopefully just temporarily.
That being said, it’s always in my (and our) best interest to take action on yellow alerts, especially when it comes to my (our) health.
A good mindfulness practice would be to acknowledge and act on the yellow alerts.
So how about you? What are you ignoring? And why? What’s the worse that could happen if you addressed it?
“To live in denial

is allowing the fear
to dictate our lack
of living life to the fullest.
There is a purpose for you,
and this fear keeps you
from realizing and living out
that purpose.”
