23-220 Core Genius #3

Today’s Mandala Message: Identify Your Unique Ability

This week I’m working through Principle #39 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Stay Focused on Your Core Genius”. I set my intention today to ponder my unique ability.

Before we can determine what tasks we can delegate and what tasks that can be done by us, we have to recognize / identify our unique ability…our core genius. From StrategicCoach.com they state “Every one of us is entirely unique—from our experiences, to our skillset, to what energizes and motivates us.

In their post entitled “How To Identify Your Unique Ability With These 6 Tips” one of the ways is to notice that “It comes to you so naturally, you might not think it’s anything special. … It might even seem a little mundane because we’re so used to being ourselves and doing things in this way. But when you acknowledge how you most naturally strive, you get closer to the heart of what drives you.”

For me doing anything arts-y and crafts-y comes naturally to me. As a kid it was always a safe bet to buy any kind of arts and crafts kit as a gift for me. And while as grownup drawing realistic images was (and still is) a big challenge, drawing mandalas came quite naturally to me. With my computer and software engineering background, painting mandalas digitally has also become a natural fit.

A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder what comes naturally to you.

So what about you? What do you have the knack for doing? Do you have a skillset that comes easily to you? What experiences and talents make you unique?

“What sets you apart
can sometimes feel
like a burden
and it’s not.
And a lot of the time,
it’s what makes you great.”
