Today’s Mandala Message: Check Your Thoughts
This week I’m working through Principles #50 and #51 from Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles” entitled “Tell the Truth Faster” and “Speak with Impeccability”. I set my intention today to ponder ways to speak with impeccability. Canfield states: “How do you know when you have been impeccable with your word? When you feel good, happy, joyful, calm, and at peace. If you’re not feeling these things, check your thoughts, your self-talk, and your verbal and written communication with others.”
He offers some practical ways to stop yourself and/or others who are engaged in talk that lacks impeccability:
- “Change the subject
- Say something positive about the other person
- Walk away from the conversation
- Keep quiet
- Clearly state that you no longer want to participate”
A good mindfulness practice would be to notice how you’re feeling when in conversation with others.
So how about you? When being around different groups of people, are you aware of how you feel? When others are talking negatively, how do you respond? If it’s you that is talking negatively, how can you catch yourself and change course?
“Take notice of what thoughts
— Miya Yamanouchi
you fill your mind with each day.
Our thoughts draw to us
whatever is dominating our mind,
so always keep
what you are thinking about
in check.”
Blessings,
