Today’s Mandala Message: Evaluate Who’s In Your Orbit
This week I’m working through Principle #55 “Be a Class Act”. I set my intention today to ponder the standards of those around me. Canfield states: “Simply choose to live by a higher set of standards, and watch people respond enthusiastically toward you. Soon, you’ll notice the effect that it evokes… People want to do business with you or become involved in your sphere of influence. They perceive you as successful and someone who can expand their possibilities. They trust you to act with responsibility, integrity, and aplomb.”
He further states that people who do live and work by a higher set of standards “tend to attract people who are at the top of their game.” He suggests looking at the people in our lives right now…would we consider them class acts?
For me, I’ve become particular about with whom I spend my time. It’s a precious commodity to me so why would I waste it on people who are negative, unsupportive, and/or lacking in any sense of direction. I’m grateful that most of the people around me live by higher standards, some higher than mine which makes them great teachers for me.
A good mindfulness practice would be to consider how you would re-create yourself as a class act. If you need help with that, I’ll be sharing a couple of ways over the next couple of MotDs.
So how about you? Do you consider the people around you to be class acts? What standards do they live by? Are they the same standards as yours?
