Today’s Mandala Message: Practice and Maintain Grace Under Pressure

This week I’m working through Principle #55 “Be a Class Act”. I set my intention today to ponder being able to maintain grace under pressure. Canfield states: “There are three aspects of this characteristic. The first is imperturbability in the face of chaos. … The second is a calmness that gives courages. … The third is a quality of certainty.”

I strive to maintain grace under pressure. Sometimes I catch it early and sometimes it’s not until the chaos is over or has changed in some way. One mantra I like to use in these circumstances is “Well this interesting” or some variation of it. What this does for me is 1) give me pause to take a breath, 2) help me shift my focus from possible victim-mode to observer-mode, and 3) help me better assess what’s really going on and how best to remedy the situation.

A good mindfulness practice would be to come up with a way to help you maintain grace under pressure.

So how about you? How are you with chaos? Are you able to maintain grace under pressure? What would that look like for you?

“Leading in crisis
requires an ability
to remain
composed,
focused,
and engaged
when tensions rise.”
