Today’s Mandala Message: Financial Success is a Mindset Process
This week I’m working through Principle #56 “Develop a Positive Money Consciousness”. I set my intention today to ponder my mindset when it comes to financial success. Canfield states: “Like everything else … financial success also starts in the mind. You have to first decide what you want. Next, you have to believe it’s possible and that you deserve it. Then you must focus on it by thinking about it and visualizing it as if it were already yours. And finally, you have to be willing to pay the price to get it—with disciplined effort and perseverance over time.”
He further states that for most of us we struggle with just getting through the first few stages of this process…because of our limiting beliefs around money. Here are just a few of the limiting belief examples he listed:
- “Money doesn’t grow on trees
- You have to have money to make money
- Money is the root of all evil
- People with a lot of money are selfish and self-centered
- If you are rich, you can’t be spiritual”
I resonate with some of these and I would add a couple of my own: “the more money you have the more people want to take it from you”; “the more money you have the harder it is to trust other people”; “If I make a lot of money I’m afraid I’ll lose it all and be worse off than I was before”; and, “Asking for money isn’t safe” (this last one was especially true in our household while I was growing up).
I know I have a bunch of money-related limiting beliefs and it’s my hope and plan to work through them while doing this week’s MotDs.
A good mindfulness practice would be to spend some time pondering what, if any, limiting beliefs you have regarding money.
So how about you? Are you aware of any limiting beliefs you have regarding money? What are they? Are you open to being free of them?
“If you believe
— Nicole Quintana-Wolf
the idea that making money
is challenging, then it will be.
As with many limiting beliefs,
this can quickly become
a self-fulfilling prophecy.”
