23-351 No Time Like the Present #1

Today’s Mandala Message: Start Today

This week I’m working through Principles #63: Start Now!…Just Do it! of Jack Canfield’s “The Success Principles”. I set my intention today to ponder something I can start today that I’ve been putting off. Canfield states: “Most of life is on-the-job training. Some of the most important things can only be learned in the process of doing them. You do something and you get feedback—about what works and what doesn’t. If you don’t do anything for fear of doing it wrong, poorly, or badly, you never get any feedback, and therefore you never get to improve.”

As I’ve stated several times throughout this year, I have a long list of projects waiting for me to start (and finish). I also have a lot of online classes I bought that I have yet to begin. Pondering why I have yet to start on any of these, I’m sensing 1) if I really wanted to do them, nothing would stop me, 2) that I’m afraid they’re going to take too long (but so what? what else have I got to do?), and 3) that I’m afraid I’m going to be disappointed in the outcome—either with my ability to accomplish or learn it or I won’t be happy with the results.

So…later today, I’m going to review my project/class list to choose (and start) the one that scares me the most because, chances are, that’s the one that will help push me out of my comfort zone the best. And if my history is any indicator, it’s the “scary” things that have positively surprised me the most and opened up new avenues of creativity.

A good mindfulness practice would be to ponder a project that you’ve been putting off … and then start it…even if it’s just a baby step.

So how about you? Do you have projects that you’ve been putting off starting? What is stopping you from starting any of them? What would it take for you to just pick one and start it?

“Start where you are.
Use what you have.
Do what you can.”
