24-033 Elation

“a state of extreme happiness or excitement”

Riding rollercoasters…that’s where I experience extreme happiness and excitement. Up until I went to see a hypnotherapist for my acrophobia in the mid-90s, anything with height terrorized me.

As a kid I remember experiencing elation especially on Christmas morning. My parents were very generous..or I should say, Santa was very generous. I can remember other points in time feeling that way but without the specifics. Now as a grown up, though, it’s mostly from rollercoasters.

The first time I rode a roller coaster after completing therapy, I was uneasy but open to it. My brother sat next to me in the front row. As we slowly came up to the top of that first “hill”, he noticed my nervousness and said the most brilliant thing I’ve ever heard. He said “relax and let the ride take you”…I took it to heart and did so. That first drop, the loop, zero gravity, and everything after was AMAZING! All fear and nervousness was gone in a flash. Instead I felt absolute joy and exhilaration…and freedom. So much so that at the end of the ride I went back on line to ride it again…and again…and again. Then off we went to go ride the other coasters. I was hooked.

How about you? Is elation a core value for you?

btw…here’s what it looked like before:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
