Honor
”to regard or treat someone or something with admiration and respect”
As with most of this year’s MotDs, I sense that, while many of the values are geared towards the world outside of ourselves, they mainly encourage us to apply these values internally…to ourselves.
The definition offered here is talking about honoring someone or something, which is something that serves us well to do, obviously. However, what about honoring ourselves? How does one do that? It’s not something I often think about and yet today’s MotD reminds me of the value in doing so.
So I went to The Google and found this lovely site called PsycheCentral.com. They offered this posting entitled 7 ways to honor yourself. Here are the 7 ways (the article goes into greater detail with each one):
- Forgive Yourself
- Practice the Sacred Pause
- Respect Your Body
- Be Honest with Yourself
- Pick an Activity from Your Feel-Good List
- Think of “Sacred” in Seasons
- Commit to Radical Self-Compassion
The two that jump out at me as being the ones to focus on first are 1. Forgive Yourself and 3. Respect Your Body. The one I could start doing right now is 2. Practice the Sacred Pause
How about you? Is honor a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with:

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
