24-103 Constructiveness

Constructiveness

“the quality of serving to build or improve”

Today’s value word reminds me of the quote:

“Try and leave this world a little better than you found it, and when your turn comes to die, you can die happy in feeling that at any rate, you have not wasted your time but have done your best.”

—Robert Baden-Powell

Begging the question: Is the world a better place because we’re in it?

This word also reminds me of my dad, who was in construction for most of his 96 years. Until his stroke in 2018, he was still doing some form of construction. He was also very clever. He could walk into a room and tell you exactly how much dry wall would be needed for it…just by eyeballing it.

When I would come home for a visit after moving out of town, he would drive me all around several towns/cities in the area pointing out all the buildings he helped build. He took great pride in is work and always strived to do excellent work. I would say as far as his constructiveness goes, the world is definitely a better place because he was in it. He’s quite the role model for me and a tough act to follow.

How about you? Is constructiveness a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with and a “gold” view…

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
