Neatness
“the quality of being neat and organized, with everything in its place”
Based on the current status of our home, I’d say that we need to adopt this as a core value. I’m not sure why I struggle with being neat and organized. In some areas I am, but most areas I’m not. I know some of it has to do with growing up (yes…yet another childhood issues) in an extremely neat environment. Everything had to be in its place or there would be a not-so-nice price to pay. So I’m thinking that defiance and resistance have something to do with how I am now.
The funny thing is…when I do neaten up a space, I love it. It makes me feel good. So that begs the question: why would I let it get out of neatness? That, my friends, is the question.
Here’s one thing I know, any space where I’ve set up an organized system, it generally stays that way, or only takes a few moments to get it back on track.
As I write this, I’m wondering if I’ve created some kind of crazy, endless loop where because it feels so good after I’ve made a space neat and organized, that I purposely (subconscious-wise) create a mess so I can clean it up again.
Upon further review, I’m wondering if what I’m really wanting is some form of approval for the good job I did…that I never got in my youth. In a weird way thinking: maybe this time I’ll receive some accolades for a job well done…like a warped “Groundhog Day” (movie) scenario. Yikes! Well, that gives me something to further ponder.
How about you? Is neatness a core value for you?
BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with…

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day
Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
