Variety
“the quality of having different forms or types”
They say that “variety is the spice of life”. I know that to be true for me, in most cases, especially when it comes to my creative endeavors. And because of that I find it difficult to narrow down what I do to a simple elevator speech…you know, describing yourself and what you do in 30 seconds or less.
Back in the day, variety shows were the “thing”. Just about every famous person had one. It meant that throughout the show you’d see different acts: singing, dancing, comedic skits, and so on. Of course, Carol Burnett had the epitome of variety shows. (google it) It was like a buffet…you were entertained by a variety of genres throughout the hour. Saturday Night Live is probably the only thing closest to that now.
For me I see variety as a source of creativity. By changing things up, going different ways, trying new things, I get to experience them from a different perspective thus giving me new ideas to play with or new things to see and try that I would have missed otherwise.
Changing up my first sentence: Variety is the creativity of life.
