Enjoyment

“the feeling of pleasure and satisfaction that you have when you do or experience something that you like”

Essentially, our lives on earth are meant to be about this:

What brings you joy? do that…with one caveat: it mustn’t prevent someone else from doing what brings them joy.

If everyone lived this way, there would be a lot less of the turmoil we see in the world these days.

Given that we’re not all there yet, we are encouraged, on an individual level, to at least determine (and do) that which brings us joy. For me (in no particular order), it’s playing with all of my art supplies (toys), going to the coast with my husband and our greyhound, Faé, hugging said greyhound, zooming with my brothers every week, learning new things (currently, I’m learning French and storytelling), eating great food, taking hot showers, helping people through my art/readings, telling stories, watching great movies, going to a comedy stand-up show…just to name a few.

What would be on your list of things or experiences the bring you joy?

And if you’re struggling to determine what brings you joy, for the next several days (or longer) set your daily intention to be on the look out for it. You’ll recognize it in your body by how it feels uplifted or lighter…mainly in the upper chest area. It could be come from something as simple as that first sip of coffee in the morning, watching the way your child or pet sleeps on its bed, how your body feels after you’ve taken a couple of deep breaths, seeing/smelling the roses in your neighbor’s front yard, and so on. Be open to any possibility…the joy is there to be found.

btw…here’s Faé doing what brings her joy…being on the lookout for those pesky neighborhood cats and squirrels.

How about you? Is enjoyment a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

joyfully,

Maureen

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
