Foresight

“the ability to assess correctly what is going to happen in the future and plan your actions accordingly”

For me, foresight plays out more as my intuition…this sense of knowing something ahead of time. Usually I’ll hear a simple thought in my head that says to do something. Sometimes I listen and sometimes I discount it. I’m learning, more and more to heed these thoughts.

For instance, this one time I’m about to head out the door to walk our dogs. This Voice says “take the binoculars” to which I thought…that’s crazy, why would I want to do that? So I dismissed it. While walking in the park I heard all this commotion atop of some large trees. I look up and see not one but a whole family of great blue herons (my favorite birds). As I’m standing there, looking up at them, my ego self said…”boy, I sure wish I had binoculars with me so I could see them better.” Well there you have it.

Since then I’ve learned to acknowledge and follow through on this inner voice. You’re probably wondering “how do I differentiate between my ego voice and my intuitive voice?”

The ego voice tends to start its thought with “I” … as in “I want to go to the park” or “I have to finish that project” or “I should call ____________”.

The intuitive voice tends to sound more like a command…as in “go to the park” or “finish the project” or “call ___________”.

Today’s MotD encourages us to pay attention to the difference thoughts we have and to start noticing their differences so that we can up our foresight game.

How about you? Is foresight a core value for you?

BTW…here’s what it looked like to begin with …

About the 2024 Mandalas of the Day

Each day I will create and post a mandala inspired by one of 366 “value” words chosen randomly. The objective being to discover for myself which ones would best represent my core values…and by doing so, I hope it inspires you to determine your own.
